You are invited to join us to celebrate our engagement. We are looking forward to bringing together our nearest and dearest for our engagement party in Bristol this summer.

The Day

Here's the run down of what to expect on the day.

Arrival

Arrive from 15:00 onwards and follow signs towards the walled garden. We will be there to welcome you with drinks and music in the "top garden."

15:00 Cocktail Hour

Join us for cocktail hour from 15:00, to celebrate our engagement with bubbles and our favourite cocktails. Enjoy your drinks and relax in the beautiful surrounding of Barrow Court. We are looking forward to our families and friends getting to know each other!

18:00 Eat

Relaxed food will be served in the bottom garden. Please let us know when you RSVP if you have any dietary requirements and we'll make sure you are catered for! The cash bar will be open all evening, serving bubbles, beer, wine and cocktails.

19:30 Happily Ever After Party

Dance the night away in the beautiful orangery under the disco ball. We hope you keep the party going until late, so bring your dancing shoes! We want to hear your dance floor requests, so please include these on your RSVP.

Travel

Taxi

The taxi can drop you off at the entrance of the "Big House" at Barrow Court. From there, follow the signs towards the walled garden. Postcode: BS48 3RP. Local taxi companies (aside from Uber) include:Bristol Taxi 01172870247Bristol Taxi Online 01172872786 (By prior arrangement only)

If you are driving, please be aware that there is limited parking space at Barrow Court. We strongly advise getting a taxi if you are travelling from the Bristol area. You can park on the long drive leading up to Barrow Court, on the right hand side. Bristol city centre is a ULEZ zone, check whether you need to pay a ULEZ charge before you drive through the city centre.

Hotels

We are close to Bristol (15 minutes) and Bristol airport (10 minutes), both have lots of options for accommodation. It is the weekend of Bristol Pride so you may want to book early!

The Hotel Du Vin Avon George is a smart hotel in Clifton Village. It has a beautiful view of the Clifton suspension bridge and is really well located for a walk into Clifton Village or up to the Clifton observatory on Sunday morning.

Avon Gorge by Hotel du Vin

This is as close as you can get to the party, and rates are reasonable too. A village inn with rooms, and a super convenient location.

The George at Backwell

A local village pub with rooms. A very convenient location for getting to and from the party. Very reasonably priced, with only six rooms available.

The Rising Sun, Backwell

A local inn with lots of accommodation options, including family rooms, all very reasonably priced. It's a convenient location to the party, a short taxi ride away. If you're staying one night, it's a great option.

The Inn at Yanleigh

There are three city centre premier inns which all give easy access to central Bristol. The Lewins Mead Premier Inn is the closest to the shopping centre, Finzels Reach is close to the harbour, (we'd recommend drinks nearby at the left handed giant - a bar and tap room on the water, or La Vignoble a wine bar). King Street Premier Inn gives you easy access to the Harbourside and Whapping Wharf.

If you are planning to make this a weekend break, here are our top tips for visiting Bristol.

Explore

Whapping Wharf

Stroll down to Whapping Wharf on a Saturday or Sunday. You can do a great circular walk of the Harbourside stopping for coffee on the way. From Cargo take a right past the M Shed, past the Arnolfini, and across the Bridge towards the Dockyard, you'll pass the SS Great Britain on the way back along the Harbourside and finish back in Cargo. You can even jump on the harbour boat. There are some great spots for lunch here including gambas, mud dock and Mokoko for coffee and pastries.

Clifton Village

Clifton Village is one of our favourite spots for a morning walk at the weekend. Take a stroll across the suspension bridge and then head back to the village for Brunch, via all the little independent shops. We recommend Saffron for breakfast or lunch (the saffron club is Justin's recommendation).

Bristol Architecture

If you like to visit grand buildings and churches, we'd recommend visiting St Mary Redcliffe Church and the Wills Memorial Building. St Mary Redcliffe is a particularly beautiful church inside. Whilst the Wills Memorial Building is an iconic picture of the Bristol skyline, you can book a tour of the tour. Nearby, Brandon Hill Park is a lovely central spot, you can climb Cabot Tower (it's free!) for a great view of Bristol.

Banksy Walking Tour

Something we really enjoyed when we first arrived in Bristol is the Banksy walking tour of the city. You'll cover a couple of miles with a guide, who will cover some of Bristol's history, art and culture. Bookable on lots of different platforms including Viator, Tripadvisor, Airbnb etc.

Relax

The Lido, Clifton

The Clifton Lido is a really popular spot for a swim and a bite to eat. You'll have to book in advance, but it comes highly recommended!

Sauna & Cold Plunge

There are lots of sauna and cold plunges in the area. A few come highly recommended; <a href="https://sivowellness.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Sivo Wellness</a> in Leigh Woods is a secret garden setting with sauna, cold plunges and jacuzzi in a tranquil walled garden. <a href="https://www.fireicewellness.co.uk" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Fire &amp; Ice Westbury</a> has a natural cold plunge, and closest to us is Unfold Sauna at <a href="https://www.unfoldsaunaclub.com" rel="noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">Five Acre Farm.</a>

Frome & Wells

Frome and Wells are two places we'd highly recommend for a day visit. From is a very sweet town full of independent shops, it's particularly good for its monthly Sunday market day. Well is England's smallest city, with a stunning cathedral, castle and small high street to look around. We'd recommend lunch at Root too.

Great for little ones

Noah's Ark Farm Park

If you have little ones, Noah's Ark Farm Park comes highly recommended. It will keep the kid's busy all day, with rain proof soft play options and indoor small animal barn, along with the bigger animals including elephants and lions.
